"People with FM, CFID, and/or CMP are prime candidates for losing their ability to effectively conserve energy and manage their time. We are at higher risk than healthy people for overload and circuit blow out. Pain and fatigue can cause agitation, emotional stress, irritation, restlessness, and the inability to interact with others appropriately. This pool of symptoms is further complicated by disordered thought processes (brain fog), ineffective support structures, and poor time management."
"The next time you are near a bookstore or newsstand, invest four dollars in one or two magazines or two that cover your hobbies or interests; not a newsmagazine or work-related publication, just something about an interest or hobby—cooking, surfing, computers, kids, or whatever captures your fancy. Put the magazines under the passenger seat of your car or briefcase/purse/backpack. The next time you are pushed into 'pause mode' by circumstances, start reading."
"How should you organize the medication log? Allergies and sensitivities to medications should top your list. Next, list current medications, amount, and frequency. This should include regularly scheduled medications, as well as those taken on an as-needed basis, such as antihistamines during allergy season, pain medication during a flare, or for an acute problem. Also include the purpose of taking the medication, such as for sleep, pain, or depression. The approximate date you started taking the medication is important. If the medication is helpful, what percentage of the time or intensity does it alleviate the symptom? Last, but certainly not least, you should include any significant medications you are no longer taking, including the date and reason you stopped. This will assist you and your doctor in prioritizing your medication regimen. With this information, it is less likely time will be wasted trying medications already determined to be ineffective." A documenting guide provided in the "Useful Tools" section.
The book's content methodically flows and builds on each previous chapter. Unlike other books, our book makes sure to include both conventional aspects of treating chronic pain illnesses, and alternative methods that strengthen the body, mind, and spirit.. It is full of work pages that include an inventory of each illness and co-existing conditions. (See the Table of Contents). You will be able to relate specific information to your doctor and assist him/her in documenting in your medical record and provide the necessary information for obtaining the assistance you need.
Our wishes are you will find our book a truly helpful addition to your library, and that you are able to use it as a necessary tool for dealing with all aspects of your well-being. Paying it forward:
