The average time from the onset of symptoms to diagnosis is five years. The lack of a timely diagnosis can be devastating to the patient and to the healthcare community in general. It affects not only those of us who suffer fibromyalgia and other disorders like it, but all healthcare consumers. This atrocity can only be remedied by educating treating physicians and advocating for an increased awareness. Times are changing.
