Nipping Isolation in the Bud

"Great works are performed not by strength but by perseverance."
-Samuel Johnson
  • Join organizations that address your specific needs such as your local fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, or chronic pain foundations. The collective information that you give and receive reinforces the bond. There is value in numbers.
  • Share brochures or educational information with those who express interest in learning more, such as, family, friends, healthcare providers, co-workers, or civic and religious affiliations.
  • Write letters to organizations that provide research for chronic pain disorders, such as the National Fibromyalgia Alliance, The CFID Foundation, or the Chronic Pain Relief Coalition.
  • Become politically active. Write to your local and national senator or representative.
  • Write letters to the American Medical Association, the American Osteopathic Association, nursing organizations, and the National Institute of Health.
  • Support other organizations that will advocate for you. Any contribution you make is appreciated, whether it is time, talent, or treasures.
  • Write letters of thanks to those who help.
